Checkup.

Allie had her 2 year checkup this morning, and everything looks great! She only had to get one shot, and she also had her finger pricked for a CBC (which was normal). She is 27 lbs (50th percentile) and 36.5 inches (95th percentile!). I am glad we got that over and done with! No more shots until she's 4. She was the perfect patient, standing very still on the scale, lying down very still for her height and head measurement, and following the doctor's directions. She didn't even cry at the finger stick - she was startled and then she was so curious to watch the nurse squeeze her finger and see the blood drip in the tube thing. And then she got her one shot in the leg, and she again was startled but it was over so quickly and then the nurse handed her a sucker and her eyes just lit up! She L-O-V-E-S candy and forgot about the shot right away - first time she's not cried with shots! Before we headed to the doctor, we stopped at Asher's school to take in all the Valentines we had made earlier this week. His classmates adore Allie and are always excited to see her. She is just as excited to go to "Asher's school!" and plops right down with the children like she belongs there. We stayed for about 5-10 minutes, and Mrs Hughes told me a couple of sweet stories about Asher - she commented on how helpful he is, and she said the other day a boy that rides his bus that is in the class next door needed to go to the bathroom, but he got a bit confused and instead of heading back to the bus line for pickup he went to the classroom. The teachers asked him, where is your backpack? And he said Asher took it to the bus for him! And they were like, shouldn't YOU be on the bus, too?! And he's like, Oh yeah I am! LOL. Don't worry, he made it to the bus, and the teachers thought Asher was so sweet to help him with his stuff. Then she told me a funny story this morning - when Ash got to school, a classmate asked him if he was going to breakfast. He asked what they were serving, and when the child told him (whatever it was, I don't know) he said, "No thanks, I'll pass!" Mrs Hughes overheard this and thought it was so funny. She is such a perfect kindergarten teacher! You can tell she loves this age and teaching them these beginning basics and hearing their funny stories. She is full of energy, animated and motivating, and can control 20 kids amazingly well. John was off work again today! He has spent most of the day outside, from powerwashing out the garage from all the salt and dirt our vehicles dragged in, to washing his truck and jeep (my car can't be washed yet - I just had the windshield replaced) and also hitched up the trailer to the 4wheeler and has been picking up downed branches. He told me last night that he thought tonight might be good for a big bonfire - Asher will go berserk for that! Hope we have an uneventful weekend! :)
