Asher has lost his first tooth! It happened on Friday the 13th. John wasn't home, he was hunting. It had really gotten snaggly and I was checking it out, and started to just gently pull and it popped right out! Ash tasted the blood, and looked at me confused, then saw the tooth in between my fingers and then up at the look on my face - it was priceless! He was so excited!!! He had to call Daddy right away to let him know. The tooth fairy left him 4 quarters for that first tooth. I am still getting used to his new smile. :)
Let's see, what else is going on around here? Opening day of deer season (modern gun) was Saturday the 14th, and we started the morning by getting a small buck, who would have been 4 point but one of his antlers was broken off. We loaded up and went to the butcher where John had just been the day before picking up our beef. That was an experience for everyone (positive though) and then we headed to Lowe's to purchase some home improvement supplies. John turned our "trash closet" into a true pantry, which is probably what is was supposed to have been all along except it only had one shelf and was more like a utility closet. It is FABULOUS complete with racks the full length of the door (inside of course). It makes me happy every time its opened, which is often as we are all still retraining our brains that the trash can is now UNDER the sink! LOL
John also replaced the dining room chandelier and I am thrilled with that upgrade as well. He also killed two more does!
The next day we dragged out all our Christmas decorations and got to work. This past Friday Allie and I dropped Ash off at school and drove an hour to Northern Kentucky to Hobby Lobby to pick up several more items to help round things out. We are always adding! We love the house at Christmastime and are thoroughly enjoying the decorations and all the white lights. The house looks so warm and cozy especially in the evenings. Some people think we are crazy for decorating so "early" but we obviously disagree. This works for us and we are getting into the spirit of "the most wonderful time of the year"!
John's parents are making the drive to see us this coming Wednesday for the Thanksgiving Holiday. We are really looking forward to having them here! They did come out 2 Thanksgivings ago, but we hadn't been in this house long and I remember being sick and Allie was little still, not even a year old. They also visited last August right after Ash started Kindergarten for a couple of days. We weren't sure what we were doing this year, so when we found out they decided to come on here we were very happy. It will make this Thanksgiving even more special to share it with them.
The kids are super excited that Mimi and Papa are coming. Allie tells us every day, at least once, that "Mimi and Papa are coming to our house for a visit!" The other night she also proceeded to tell John, with hands shielding her eyes like from the sun, "...and I don't see them anywhere!" while moving her head side to side. Hilarious!! She looks out of the windows at least once a day and says she doesn't see them coming yet. LOL.
Ash has school this Mon and Tue and then is out the rest of the week. It will be a nice break for him. He is enjoying school immensely, and math is still his favorite subject. This coming Tue he gets to go see the movie A Christmas Carol with his class at our local movie theater. He is very excited for that!
I'm sure there is more I wanted to blog about. But my fingers are freezing making typing difficult. I have had to correct a lot! So I'll leave it at this!
